MATE utilises the Telstra Wholesale Mobile network for it’s mobile plans, so it is important to ensure your device is compatible. To get the best experience on the Telstra Wholesale Mobile network, ensure your device supports the following bands:
4G Network (LTE)
- 700MHz (Band 28): Provides broad coverage with improved indoor reception.
- 850MHz (Band 5): Coverage in this band will improve after the 3G network is decommissioned.
- 1800MHz (Band 3): A widely used frequency for 4G connectivity.
- 2100MHz (Band 1): Another common frequency supporting 4G networks.
- 2600MHz (Band 7): Designed for high-speed data, especially in urban centres.
5G Network (RN)
- 850MHz (Band n5): Powers many current 5G services.
- 3500MHz (Band n78): A crucial band for new 5G deployments, delivering fast data and increased capacity.
- 26GHz (Band n258): A high-frequency mmWave band for ultra-fast speeds and capacity in dense urban areas.
Please note that not every frequency or band is available in all locations. To check which frequencies are active in your area, visit the Radio Frequency National Site Archive (RFNSA) and search for the relevant towers near you.
Important Information
Telstra’s 3G network has shut down as of 28 October 2024. After this date, you’ll need a 4G-enabled device with VoLTE support to stay connected. Additionally, speed caps apply across all plans to promote fair usage for everyone.
