how do I configure my BYO modem/router?

Once your MATE internet service is active, you will need to configure your BYO modem/router with your new MATE nbn™ service details. Please follow the steps provided in our connection guide, which you would have received by email.

MATE Connect (IPoE) Configuration

When you’ve received your activation email, your service should commence working if you have purchased our modem or have come from a provider that offers IPoE.

If you are not online, follow the below steps:

Step 1: Hard reset your modem/router:

  • While your modem is powered ON, locate the small ‘RESET’ button on your device, and insert a pin into the reset hole for 10 seconds. You should see the lights on your modem/router toggle or flicker, then it should begin the reset sequence. Allow up to 5 minutes for this to take place.
  • After the reset sequence has finished, you should automatically connect to the internet.

If this does not work, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Make sure your modem/router is configured to Dynamic IP/IPoE:

  • You will need to log in to your modem/router’s firmware to access this.
  • If you require assistance with this step, click here.

If you are unable to access the internet via the above methods, then proceed with the PPPoE configuration steps below.

PPPoE Configuration

If you do not know or are unsure of your PPPoE username and password details, please refer to the emails you received during the order process – these were provided in the emails with the subject ‘You’re nearly there mate!’ and ‘We’re officially mates!’.

For reference, the MATE service username will usually be in the following formats: [email protected] or [email protected].
