how do I activate my MATE SIM card?

To activate your MATE SIM card, you will need to login to our myMATE app or self-care portal and visit the “my orders” section.

Once you submit the activation, the following process will occur:

1. If you are transferring (porting) an existing mobile number from another provider, your existing SIM card with your current provider will continue to work even after this activation is submitted. IMPORTANT – DO NOT PUT THE MATE SIM CARD IN YOUR PHONE EVEN AFTER YOU SUBMIT THE ACTIVATION;

2. A verification code will be sent to the mobile number you are requesting to port (transfer) to MATE via SMS. You must authorise this SMS via the link provided for this porting request to proceed – this is a legal requirement to protect you from unauthorised ports;

3. From the point of authorising this SMS, the transfer of an existing mobile number to MATE can take up to 24 hours. This will only occur during business hours – Monday-Friday (8am-8pm AEST) and Saturday (10am-6pm AEST) – there is no porting on Sundays or national public holidays;

4. You will receive an SMS and email if activation is successful. On occasion, your existing SIM card with your current mobile provider may stop working before you receive this SMS and email. If this is the case, you can place the new MATE SIM card in your phone.
