MATE does not offer Priority Assistance.
Priority Assistance is a service designed to help people with life-threatening medical conditions to have access to a reliable telephone service as a matter of urgency. Given the crucial nature of their health conditions, it’s vital that these individuals are able to make a phone call during an emergency.
Priority Assistance is an additional service that some providers offer. MATE does not offer priority assistance. Anyone who needs Priority Assistance must check with their provider before signing up to make sure the provider offers this service.
To qualify, an individual must have a diagnosed life-threatening medical condition that can result in sudden, unexpected episodes that are potentially fatal and require immediate medical attention. They must also have a certification from a recognised medical practitioner confirming their condition and their need for priority assistance.
Not all telecommunications providers offer Priority Assistance. Telstra is required by law to provide this service to eligible customers. If you’re with another provider, it’s essential to check their obligations or availability of such services.
Priority Assistance customers get faster connection and fault repair of their standard telephone service. This ensures that they always have a line open for emergencies.
While the service prioritises the connection and fault repair of standard phone lines, it doesn’t guarantee uninterrupted service. External factors such as natural disasters can still affect service availability.
Customers registered for Priority Assistance should consider maintaining an alternative means of contacting emergency services. This might include a mobile phone or another landline.
The medical certification for Priority Assistance typically lasts for a specific period (like a year or two), after which the customer may need to renew it.
If someone believes they qualify for Priority Assistance or needs this service, they should get in touch with their service provider to see if the provider offers this, and provide the necessary documentation to become registered.
MATE does not offer Priority Assistance. If you require Priority Assistance then unfortunately, it’s recommended that you sign up with an alternate provider.
